About This Game Be aware, this game does not support Steam Cloud yet. Great Hero's Beard has a very satisfying progression system. Almost everything you do in game makes your character-Turgut evolve & progress further in the world. Very fast and fun automated combat where everything depends on your items, stats and skill chances! Build your character with stat points, randomized items & through the skill tree choices. After you're done with the junk items send them to the fusion system, which in return will spit out items, stat points & skill points to further help you in your journey. And don't let your eyes off the main goal- to rescue all kidnapped princesses from each of the world & bring them back to you camp. When you finally feel like you're burned out, you can go ahead and retire. She's not solid enough to have hard nipples, seriously!) But I have to admit the gameplay is solid and enjoyable. I played this many hours but never could get past the final boss and didn't enjoy the grindy part of the end game so I'm on a bit of a hiatus now, but will probably pick it up again soon. Would be nice if they had a faster way to allocate your points once you've retired a couple dozen times. Clicking to level up hundred of stat points every reset is a bit tiresome. But overall, despite a few minor QOL issues, the game is fun.. Most idle style games are free, and for good reason. Their mechanics are generally simplistic, and often their art and sound are subpar (if not almost offensively "retro").Great Hero's Beard is the rare exception for the genre-it's of an unusually high quality in both art and sound, and is fairly engaging. Rather than being able to leave the game alone for hours, coming back to reap the benefits of your AFK time, it requires you to regularly (every couple minutes or so) come back to the game and recycle your gear or change stages.While it doesn't reinvent the wheel with its moment-to-moment gameplay, it keeps things engaging with a very pleasant ambient soundtrack and hand-drawn art and animation style. Trading in your loot (dropped by enemies) builds a meter that eventually awards you either higher quality gear, or stat/skill points, making it more than just a tacked-on feature with no long-term value.Your character's appearance will also reflect his current gear, which is a nice (and frankly, necessary) minor feature of the game.If there's really any complaint, it's that while every piece of gear has a unique name (Like "Poor Butcher's Cleaver" or "Infected Priest's Barbed Hand Wraps", the names are for flavor only, and don't seem to reflect the quality of the gear, or any of the stat boosts that you might get from them. All cleavers look the same, all tunics look the same, etc. While I understand the practicality of that, it seems like needless flavor text that I generally ignore, and instead simply look at the stat lines before recycling or equipping.Also, since this is an idle game, it's not a "clicker"...clicking your mouse does nothing, and so you don't have to worry about clicking like mad and dealing with finger cramps. As far as I'm concerned, this is a huge plus.At its heart though, this is just a game about numbers getting bigger, and trying to make your numbers bigger than your opponents' numbers. If you don't like idle-style games, you're probably not going to like this one. But if you even SLIGHTLY enjoy them, this is worth buying, particularly on sale.. This is a fairly fun sword N' board RPG with the aesthetic of a clicker but there's no idling or clicking here, you have to remain fairly active. The only "idle" aspect of the game is you cannot control the fights in any way, and you have to watch the entire thing go down regardless if it's going well or not.It's pretty fun and the prestige mechanic is well done, adding big experience and skill gains to help smooth out one's early-game. There's no currency here, but you simply convert all your useless loot into their own loot boxes that will spit decent gear back at you as well as more skill points.That does tie into a couple of complaints I have; There's a fair amount of walls to run into. None are insurmountable, but the loot boxes you acquire are all tied to the same table. Basically, this means you'll run into the same walls in every game despite your major experience bonuses. Every zone drops the same quality stuff so even though you're stat-boosted, you still might not have the defense or hitpoints to survive certain fights until you grind enough for the loot boxes to give you actual upgrades. I find it's typically my main source of upgrades.There's essentially no way to steamroll anything but your actual level.Also your skills are all percentage based, so a lot of the higher-end fights can come to pure RNG. I find myself farming a couple spots and in one of the higher level zones, I can lose 20% of the time just based on the RNG. If my heals don't proc, if my companion doesn't do her heal, or if the ressurection ability doesn't pop, then at certain moments I can be incredibly screwed.I'm sure there's some meta builds to be had here, but I haven't yet found them. Ten hours in and my best stats can be around 60,000 hitpoints, 160,000 damage and 12,000 defense... Meanwhile I'm seeing screenshots in the millions. But then, I'm also only 6 points in Retirement so maybe that stuff comes later.Either way it's a pretty fun RPG if you don't mind a little grind. I typically play this at the end of my day while watching podcasts.. It is a simple game with a fun mechanics. It would be nice to be able to scroll through your inventory and better scrolling for worlds but theses are very minor things.. This game doesn't require a hugely in-depth review. It's basically a clicker/idle game, with some required babysitting since you can't just afk through all the levels.Kill monsters (thats the idle part) > Die > Upgrade gear from drops, dismantle trash gear into loot chests that contain stat points or better gear, spend stat/skill points for better stats or new passive skills that make you stronger > RepeatThe music in this game is basic but fitting, animations are pretty high quality and look quite nice, and the core gameplay loop is repetitive but fun. You'll like this game if you like looty/grindy games or idle games.I think even after 1 hour of playtime the $1.19 USD I spent on it was worth it, and I plan on playing it some more. Currently right around Level 50.I do have some suggestions to the devs, if they're taking any:1. Percentages displayed next to HP and EXP bars would be nice (like XX.XXX%).2. When comparing gear, if the new gear has a stat the old gear doesnt have, it should be green, and if the old gear has a stat the new one won't, it should be red. It would give gear comparisons more clarity.3. Maybe more stuff to do? It's possible I haven't reached far enough in the game to unlock any potentially hidden content, but it would be cool if there was more skills and stuff to do back at your "base".4. A 3x speed button would be nice for previously finished levels.OVERALL RATING: 7-8/10. To be honest, I got lured when I read about thicc girls and bought it away. I was getting ready for some action after rescues (If you know what I mean) but it was not what I'm expecting. Well great game anyway. It's enjoyable anf kinda fun.. Marriage saver....You heard me correctly...i drink to much at the weekends and waste money on poor games on Steam. (SO MANY BAD GAMES!!!)Then a gem like this comes along that can occupy my drink addled brain for hours for pennies. Win.BUY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Better than clicker heroes 2, imto.. THIS IS THE BEST AND I MEAN THE FREAKING BEST SEMI IDLE GAME IVE EVER PLAYED. Not even kidding. The art style is just down right gorgeous, the game runs flawlessly, its easy to pick up and hard to put down, plus the soundtrack is the best ive heard in a game for a very long time. The dev(s) have my support and attention now! Also need i remind you that this is only ONE DOLLAR.....WITH ZERO MICROTRANSACTIONS. I'm just confused to why this game isn't more popular than it is.. Great Hero's Beard is a very good-looking, not quite idle but still a progression and loot game. While you can complete it you may come back later to find more content was added - like it happened in January 2019. Most of the time you'll try to reach the highest available stage which is pretty much limited by your base stats and the loot you find, then resurrect and repeat. You pretty much constantly have to equip new items which is one reason this is not an idle game.Hint: Do not resurrect before reaching level 120. Otherwise, you'll probably redo your character later on.+ Very nice graphics+ Most items show on character0 Only one savestate- Badly optimised graphics- Mouse-only skill-up(I had started a longer review but dismissed it because it took too long to make its points.)Basically, check the screenshots and maybe a video to see the beautiful graphics. I enjoyed those but also encountered framedrops to single-digits and even sub-1-fps stuttering whenever the game ran for a few hours.You'll probably employ some auto-clicker at some point to add surprisingly missing functionality - specifically re-running stages - from this almost idle game.You have to hunt for better equips which you cannot auto-equip which also speaks against the "idle" tag. It is diminishing fun to hunt for new loot but always nice to find the next better thing - at times reality-bendingly changing your avatar's appearance - and finally progress to the next stage.While boosting stats can be done via keyboard after the resurrection cycle, you have to skill up with the mouse which requires clicking up to 60 different spots on the screen. This is one major flaw of this game and could easily have keyboard support as well.There are basically no savestates. You have the state of your current avatar and that's it. This is not a bad decision for this game but I assume many a player would appreciate at least one more "slot".Were it not for its graphics I wouldn't have payed the game's admittedly small price and gone on to another free-to-play idle game. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase, though.I recommend Great Hero's Beard to people that want to spent maybe a week or two on something like an idle game which is a bit more involved.
